Terms of use
mouseTube is a database dedicated to mouse ultrasonic communication. mouseTube aims at gathering mouse
ultrasonic vocalisations recordings and making them available for the community.
Data uploaded on mouseTube are shared between all members of the community connected to mouseTube.
Members uploading data on mouseTube are fully responsible for the content of uploaded files and the accuracy of
the metadata provided.
Data uploaded still belong to the laboratory that recorded them, but the owner gives the right to the members of
mouseTube to use them for analyses and publications. Data can be downloaded by any member of the community.
mouseTube data are freely available and can be used for subsequent publications.
It is mandatory to cite mouseTube (Torquet N, de Chaumont F, Faure P, Bourgeron T and Ey E. mouseTube – a database to collaboratively unravel mouse ultrasonic communication [version 1; peer review: 2 approved]. F1000Research 2016, 5:2332 (https://doi.org/10.12688/f1000research.9439.1)) in these subsequent publications.
mouseTube administrators decline all
responsibilities for the content of data and metadata.
mouseTube source code will be published as an open source without commercial use
(CECILL license).
It can be re-used and modified but it should be under the same terms of use.
mouseTube administrators can update the terms of use at any time point. This will be noticed to the members via email.
GDRP (General Data Protection Regulation)
Nicolas Torquet, in its capacity as controller, informs you that your data is processed. When certain information is required to access specific features of the site, this requirement is indicated at the time of data entry collection. If you refuse to provide required entries, you may not be able to access certain services.

Recorded data
Personal data may be collected by mouseTube (Administrators: Nicolas Torquet and Elodie Ey, CNRS, Institut Pasteur).
The following personal data:
- First name (mandatory)
- Familly name (mandatory)
- Unit (optional)
- Institution (optional)
- Professional postal address (optional)
- Country (optional)
- Professional phone number (optional)
- Professional email address (mandatory)
Data recipients
This data is accessible to all mouseTube’s users. One goal of mouseTube is to federate scientists interested by mouse communication. By providing your professional information, you will be part of the community. Your information will be accessible by any other mouseTube users.
Data retention period
The data retention period shall not exceed 1 year of inactivity, after which personal data are erased as part of the right to be forgotten.
Personal rights
In compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory provisions, in particular Law No. 78-17 of 6 January amended relating to data processing, files and freedoms and European Regulation No. 2016/679/EU of 27 April 2016 (applicable since 25 May 2018), you have the following rights:
- Exercise your right of access, to know the personal data concerning you
- Request the updating of your data, if it is inaccurate
- Request portability or erasure of your data
- Request the deletion of your account
- Request the limitation of the processing of your data
- Oppose, for legitimate reasons, the processing of your data
- Withdraw your consent to the processing of your data
